Create a Basic Website

There are many people here who want to create a website but don't have any knowledge. This tutorial will help them. All typed by me, no copy paste ;)

NO KNOWLEDGE OF ANY CODING IS REQUIRED, ONLY SOME COMMON SENSE ;)

NOTE - Any doubts, ask here. Please don't scrap me. If you scrap regarding this, you will have the privilege of getting added in my ignore list for free

Setting up a website :

Setting up a website can be simple as well as tedious, the way you look at it. Follow these steps and you are going to have a brand new site for yourself within a few minutes. If you think that you need the most simplest and the non-fussiest way of setting up a website, open up a new tab or window and go to Blogger or Wordpress.

If you want to try something new, just go to google and search for blogging but I still suggest you’ll use one of the above.

If you select Blogger, then just go the home page, sign in with your Google account (the one you use for Gmail, Orkut, etc.) and create a new blog. Now configure your settings and you are ready to blog.

Now, if you didn’t like Blogger (It’s too simple, not much of themes, no plugins, blah blah), use Wordpress. Believe me, if you use Wordpress, you won’t use anything else, ever! This website, Techaddicts, is fully based on Wordpress and ‘I am lovin’ it’. Now, Wordpress also has two options:

-> Go to Wordpress, sign up and set up a blog in minutes (not recommended because you can’t add much themes, and put Adsense which converts to no earning).

-> Download Wordpress, and host it on any free/paid hosting site (in details below). It will be in a .zip format. Please don’t extract it.

Hosting:

In case you have downloaded Wordpress, this paragraph is for you, or else you may skip it. Now, to get a free hosting, just go to Google and search for free or premium hosting, as per your budget. (I am using free hosting and there is not much of a difference). But those who’ll are sure that their site will be a hit should go for premium hosting. (Premium starts from $2 and can go upto $200 or more where you even get a dedicated server).

Domain:

Domains are of two types, free and top level domains. To get a free domain, just go to Co.cc or [content suppressed] (Preference to 1st), register there and grab up any domain available. If you intend to buy a premium domain, go to Name or GoDaddy check out the domain you want (.com starts from $8.99 while .info is for jus $0.95). Once you purchase a domain or grab one for free, go to the settings page. There you will find a tab called nameservers. If there are any nameservers included, just remove it and add the ones of your host (It’s generally NS1.*****.com and NS2.*****.com where ***** refers to your host name). Now, go to your Vista Panel and under the Domains Tab, click on Addon Domains and add the domain you just purchased or grabbed for free. Just scroll down on that page and you will also get the nameservers of the website.

Setting Up Your Website:

Setting up a website is very simple if you follow my steps. If you use x10hosting, just go to your cPanel and inside the directory of your website, upload the Wordpress.zip which you had downloaded previously. If your host has a max file upload of 2 MB, use a FTP client like CuteFTP or Filezilla. Your details will be found in the cPanel. But I insist on x10hosting coz of the quality and service though you will feel bandwidth is less, it is enough. My website gets 200-500 hits daily but 10 GB is still more than enough.

Setting Up A Database:

Now go to the MySQL tab in your cPanel and create a new database. After that, add an user to that database. Now to to the website link where you have hosted and you will get a error like it is not configured and you have to configure. Just give your SQL databse name and SQL username and password.

In case you use any other host, you will get the sql host details in your cPanel or Vista panel.

Your website is now hosted ;)

Now go to yourwebsitelink/wp-admin and start maintaining your site ;)

1000's of Hotmail MSN Live passwords Leaked Online

Thousands of Windows Live Hotmail passwords have been leaked online, according to the Neowin.net tech blog.

According to Neowin, it received information from a source claiming that a "hack or phishing scheme" allowed hackers to post passwords from thousands of Hotmail accounts.

Neowin first viewed the passwords on a developer forum on Pastebin.com. The posting was added to the site on October 1. According to Neowin, it saw "part" of the posted list and "can confirm the accounts are genuine and most appear to be based in Europe."

Although it was unsure how many accounts were hacked, the original list displays accounts with names starting with "A" and "B." It included users with @hotmail.com, @msn.com, and @live.com domains, the publication claimed.

Although Microsoft has yet to confirm the existence of the list or a breach of security, the company told BBC News on Monday that it knows about the claim and is working to determine whether it is accurate.

"We're actively investigating the situation and will take appropriate steps as rapidly as possible," the Microsoft representative told BBC News.

Microsoft did not immediately respond to CNET's request for comment.

Whether the passwords were leaked is still in question. That said, Twitter and other social networks are abuzzwith people advising others to change their passwords.

•Open Notepad and type del c:\windows\prefetch\ntosboot-*.* /q,and Save it as ntosboot.bat in C:\ Drive.
•Open Group Policy Editor.
•Look at Right Pane and Double click Windows Settings under Computer Configuration.Then Double Click again on Shutdown.
•Then a new Window,named Shutdown Properties Opens.In this new window,click Add--->Browse and locate your ntosboot.bat Fileand click Open.
•Click Ok in the Add a Script Box and click Apply in the Shut Down Properties Window.
•Go To Start--->Run and type devmgmt.msc.
•Double Click on IDE ATA/ATAPI Controllers.
•Right Click on PRIMARY IDE CHANNEL and select Properties.
•Select the Advanced Settings Tab,Then you can see two parts;i.e..Device 0 and Device1.In any of these,that doesn't have the Device Tye greyed out,Select None,instead of Auto Detection and click Ok.
•Right click on SECONDARY IDE CHANNEL,Select Properties and Repeat above Step.
•Reboot your computer and Experience the Change!!

Some icons you use so regularly that you don’t need that annoying text below the icon. A good example of this is Internet Explorer or Mozilla Firefox. We all know what those icons look like. To remove that text, just follow these instructions.

Right-click on the shortcut icon, and choose Rename. Now hold down the Alt key and type in 255 on the keypad to the right of the keyboard. You can’t use the number keys right above the keyboard. If you have a laptop, you can turn on Numlock and then use the little number keys next to the regular letters.

The way this works is that the Alt+255 character is blank, so the shortcut filename is actually just named with a character that is completely blank. For the first shortcut on the desktop, you would use Alt+255, but for the next shortcut, you’ll have to enter the combination twice (Alt+255, Alt+255). For the third, three times… and so on. This is because you can’t name two different shortcuts or files the same thing. Entering Alt+225 twice would give you two blanks instead of one.

Now we have a beautiful icon, with no text underneath it!

Want to write your diary on your computer? You can do it without using any software.

1. Open Notepad

2. Type “.LOG”

3. Save it

4. Now every time you open this file notepad will automatically insert date and time to the last line of the file. You can type anything after that line and save it. In this way you can use it as a diary.

Prevent Users From Writing to USB

If you have windows XP with SP2, then you can disable the writing option to USB drives. This trick is very useful if you have virus in your computer and want to copy files from a USB Drive but don’t want to transfer virus to the USB. Follow the given steps to disable the USB writing option:

To edit the computer registry, first you should log onto your computer with administrative rights.

First click on Start button and type “Regedit” in Run option.

Here locate the location to:

HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\Control

Here in right side panel, click right to create a key with the name “StorageDevicePolicies”.

Now in left side panel, select “StorageDevicePolicies” key, again right click to create new DWORD value then label it “WriteProtect”. Set its value to “1″. But again to enable writing, set its values to “0″.

Now close the registry editor and restart your computer after any changes to go into effect.

Web addresses exceed world's total population

Internet is growing in dimensions every second, so much so that there are more addresses than there are people on Earth, claims the team behind Microsoft's new search engine Bing.

Bing has put the number of web pages at "over 1 trillion", while Google had earlier indexed more than one trillion discreet web addresses.

The current global population stands at more than 6.7 billion, which means that there are about 150 web addresses per person in the world.

And this could mean that if a person spent just one minute reading every website in existence, then he or she would be kept busy for 31,000 years, without any sleep.

"An average person would need six hundred thousand decades of nonstop reading to read through the information," News.com.au quoted Bing as saying.

Mark Higginson, director of analytics for Nielsen Online, said that the global online population had jumped 16 per cent since last year.

"Approximately 1.46 billion people worldwide now use the internet which represents a solid 16 per cent increase from the previous year's estimate (1.26 billion in 2007)," he said.

The largest Internet population belongs to China, with 338 million users online, which is more than there were people in the US.

However InternetWorldStats.com (IWS), a website that combines multiple data sources, has claimed that China's online population is more like 298 million.

"With the rates of India and China still quite low, there is ample room for growth in the coming decade," said Higginson.

But, measuring the online population could be tricky-there are servers, users, per capita numbers, and penetration percentages to evaluate.

And thus it is difficult to find a single figure to represent the world online population.

IWS combined data from the UN's International Telecommunications Union, Nielsen Online, GfK and US Census Bureau, and its latest global figures puts the number of internet users in the world at 1,596,270,108.

And this is just 23.8 per cent of the estimated 6,0706,993,152 people in the world. But it changes every day.

"In terms of the future, we anticipate mobile to contribute significantly to internet usage," said Higginson.

According to IWS, the top 5 countries with the most internet users are:

1 - China (298,000,000 users, or 22.4 percent of their population)

2 - US (227,190,989, or 74.7 percent)

3 - Japan (94,000,000, or 73.8 percent)

4 - India (81,000,000, or 7.1 percent)

5 - Brazil (67,510,400, or 34.4% percent) (ANI)

What is a .torrent file?

This is a small metadata file. Metadata here means that the file contains information about the data you want to download, not the data itself.
Your BitTorrent client needs the .torrent file to connect to the tracker (see below) and download the actual data you're interested in.

What are seeds?

A seed is a client that has a complete copy of the data of a certain torrent. Once your BitTorrent client finishes downloading, it will remain open until you click the Finish button (or otherwise close it). This is known as being a seed or seeding.

What are leechers?

A leecher is a client that is currently downloading the data of a torrent. A leecher does not have the complete file, otherwise it would be called a seed.

What is a tracker?

A BitTorrent tracker is a service on the internet that assists in the communication between BitTorrent clients. When you open a torrent file, your machine contacts the tracker and asks for a list of seeds and leechers to connect to.
